The year 2020 has been a year of upheaval for the world. Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, the lives of many people have been greatly affected. A couple, Mr. & Mrs. Wong, with their autistic and moderately mentally handicapped son, Yeung Yeung, were under pressure too. Luckily, after learning Pastel Nagomi Art, they found the skills required were rather easy to grasp and the process were very therapeutic. They started to teach Yeung Yeung Pastel Nagomi Art. Surprisingly, he has interest in painting, and also very sensitive and unique in colour combinations.
The couple named those artwork as "Yeung Enjoy Life", meaning that the paintings can bring Yeung Yeung a sense of ease and comfort, and that the viewer can have an emotional relieve from the epidemic and be self-gratified in the face of adversity.
Rather than praying for good luck, people should learn how to manage themselves in good times and bad. Besides, adversity is often the driving force behind growth. Although Yeung Yeung was born with a disability, Mr. & Mrs. Wong hope that he will be able to overcome his own obstacles and have equal opportunities to live a life of self-respect and confidence in society! They also hope that through painting together, can bring a message of love and hope to parents who are going through similar experience. Last but not the least, they hope "洋洋自得" will become a bridge between Yeung Yeung and others, and the community will have a deeper understanding and acceptance of autistic people.
